Why are we removing bags from our deliveries?

As part of our aim to reduce the amount of plastic we use, from 28th October 2019, we removed plastic carrier bags from our deliveries in some regions. To read more about our commitment to reduce plastic click here

Can I choose to have my shopping delivered in plastic bags if I so wish?

Some items will be placed in paper bags to maintain product quality and safety, but the majority of items will be delivered bagless. If you have any concerns please don't hesitate to contact us.

What happens on the doorstep without bags?

Our friendly delivery drivers will be happy to carry your shopping into your kitchen for you, or alternatively, make sure you have bags or boxes ready at the door so your groceries can be easily transferred. Our friendly drivers can help you with this too if you wish.

What about food safety and contamination?

Certain items will be delivered in paper bags to ensure food safety and eliminate risk of contamination.

Items such as raw meat and fish, loose produce and bleach will be delivered in paper bags to eliminate risk of contamination.

Do I still get charged a fee for bags if my order is delivered bagless?

No, you will no longer be charged the 40p fee.

What if I need extra help at the doorstep?

Our drivers will be happy to carry your shopping into your kitchen for you and they will also have a supply of spare paper bags if you need additional help at the doorstep transferring your shopping. If you feel you need additional help you can add comments onto your account so we know before we arrive. Please log into your account, go to 'Account settings' then 'Delivery addresses' then 'Edit' to add a comment. If you have any concerns don't hesitate to get in touch.

Do I need to let the driver in to my house?

Your delivery driver will be happy to bring your shopping into your house if you wish - this is purely based on your request.

Have you removed plastic bags for Click & Collect too?

Yes. Make sure you have bags or boxes in your car so your groceries can be easily transferred. Don't worry if you forget to bring them though, your Click & Collect collegue will have a supply of paper bags to hand just in case.

Will my food get dirty if its loose in the totes?

Our totes are cleaned regularly to ensure food and packaging is kept clean. Loose produce will be delivered in paper bags.

Yes, the driver will take the necessary time to help you with your shopping.

Can I still hand any plastic bags I have back to the driver?

Yes! You can continue to hand any plastic bags (and paper bags) you may have, back to the driver for recycling. Thank you for helping us reduce plastic use.

Can I purchase reusable bags?

Yes, you can purchase reusable bags with your online shopping (search for 'reusable bags') The driver will happily help transfer your items into your bags at the doorstep, if you wish.
