Making Every Visit Easier: Introducing Stoma-Friendly Facilities
Published on 24th Mar, 2026

Shopping should be a stress-free experience for everyone. That’s why we’ve been listening closely to your feedback, and we are proud to share a major milestone in our journey toward a more inclusive Morrisons.
We are officially the first UK supermarket to introduce stoma-friendly toilets in every one of our stores, with an accessible bathroom, across the UK.
Why This Matters
For the many people living with a stoma, a simple trip to the shops can often come with hidden anxieties. Standard accessible toilets don’t always provide the specific space or tools needed to manage a stoma with ease. By making these changes, we aim to champion independence, dignity, and comfort for our customers and colleagues.
What’s New in Our Accessible Toilets?
Working alongside Colostomy UK and Scottish Parliament member Edward Mountain, we’ve ensured our facilities meet the real-world needs of the stoma community. When you visit, you’ll now find:
Wall Hooks: To securely hang clothing or bags.
Supply Shelves: A clean, flat surface for medical supplies.
Discreet Disposal: Dedicated bins for easy and private waste management.
Mirrors: Positioned to help with quick and easy appliance checks.
This represents a vital step towards reducing everyday barriers... ensuring that people living with a stoma can shop with total peace of mind.
Supporting Invisible Disabilities
Not all disabilities are visible, but they all deserve the same level of care. These upgrades are part of our wider commitment to accessible shopping. Whether it’s our Quiet Hours for neurodiverse customers or these new stoma-friendly upgrades, we are dedicated to making Morrisons a place where everyone feels welcome.
Engagement & Community Feedback
Our best ideas come from you. If there’s something we can do to make your local store more accessible or comfortable, we want to hear it. You can share your thoughts directly with us by asking for your store's Community Champion to share any feedback.
