A New Chapter: How We’re Championing Young Readers This World Book Day

At Morrisons, we believe every child should have the chance to get lost in a great story. This World Book Day, the Morrisons Foundation is proud to announce a major new partnership with the National Literacy Trust to put thousands of brand-new books into the hands of primary school children in hundreds of schools across the UK.

Inspiring a Love of Reading

Access to books is the first step in supporting children's literacy. Our latest donation aims to reach hundreds of schools, ensuring that libraries are stocked with diverse, engaging titles that excite young minds. Whether it's a tale of adventure or a guide to a new hobby, these books are designed to spark a lifelong passion for reading.

“Ensuring all children have access to a diverse range of books that engage and excite them through their own interests, hobbies, and experiences is one important way that we can help build a generation of readers, so we are delighted to work with Morrisons to curate this book donation reaching hundreds of school children across the country”. - Jason Vit, National Literacy Trust

More Than Just Words: Supporting Mental Health

We know that reading isn't just about learning to spell; it’s a vital tool for emotional well-being. That’s why, in addition to helping pupils with their literacy skills, the donated books have been chosen to cover topics that are relevant for the development of Key Stage 2 age pupils, with the aim of improving their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

By providing stories that reflect their own lives and challenges, we’re helping pupils develop the empathy and tools they need to flourish both inside and outside the classroom.
